HOW TO DO NEAT THINGS ON YOUR PAGE

The top bar, called "Editor," allows you to change fonts, colors, and place things in
bold, italics, or underline it. You can use a numbered list, a bulleted list, or insert a
horizontal line. You can embed links, pictures, videos, or links. Below I will show how
to do those things.
In order to add a link... follow the directions. It will be helpful if you have the page you want to link to open as a different window while doing this.
  1. Type the title of the page you want to link to. (For example, I had to type the words Romeo and Juliet Inspirations FIRST.)Highlight that title.
  2. Click the icon in the Editor bar at the top that looks like a globe with a link of a chain in front of it. This will bring up a box.
  3. The bottom option in the box says "External Link." Click it so it is active.
  4. Go to the page you want to link to, highlight the URL, and copy it into the box that says external link. (If your URL has the
  5. prefix http:// already there, you have to delete it because wikispaces adds it for you.
  6. Click CANCEL.
  7. In order to check if your link saved, you must save this page and check it there.

Add an image

follow the directions. It will be helpful if you have the page you want
to link to open as a different window while doing this.

  1. Find an image using Flickr Creative Commons.
  2. Double-click the image to choose the optimal size, then right click, SAVE AS, and save it to your teacher share folder.
  3. Name it something you will remember.
  4. Click the "tree" icon at the top. Browse to your teacher share, choose your photo, click "upload." This may take a minute.
  5. When it does, you may align it on the page or add a caption.
  6. WAIT, you're not done yet!
  7. Go back to the photo and right click again. Copy the URL address and take note of the photographer.
  8. On your wikipage, paste the URL and give credit to the photographer.
  9. Save your page!

In order to add a slideshow... follow the directions above to save pictures:For ANIMOTO, which
is easier, but does not contain captions, you should save from 10-15 photos. It will help you
IMMENSELY if you save them all in one folder as you can upload them all at once. Also remember
to save the attributions to your photos. Think of it this way: for every photo/image you find, you
must save it twice -- once as a photo to your folder, and once as a URL/attribution. For this, I
made a word document and then copied and pasted the information to my wikipage when I was finished.

ROCKYOU

which is a little more complicated but also a little bit more cool because they have good music
and you can add captions, you can use any number of photos. Again, save them first!

  1. Now, go to ANIMOTO or ROCKYOU.
  2. If you haven't already, create an account. For both, after you create an account, you hit "create" video in the upper left hand
  3. corner of the screen.
  4. For ANIMOTO, start by uploading your images. You want to choose the 30-second "short." This is the free one! Upload your
  5. 10-15 photos first. Again, if you have them in a folder, hit browse, find your folder, highlight all pictures, and hit upload. This
  6. will take a few minutes.
  7. For ROCKYOU, you add a caption first, then upload the picture that you want to show with that caption.
  8. Continue following the directions they give you. Be sure to save your work.

TO GET IT TO YOUR WIKIPAGE...
  1. On ROCKYOU, they will ask you if you want to publish. Highlight & copy the HTML code they give you. It is probably in a
yellow box.
  1. On ANIMOTO, there is an icon of a thumbtack. Click this to "post/embed" to your page. You want to EMBED "other sites."
  2. Highlight the code and copy it.
  3. On your wikipage, be sure you're in EDIT mode and click the "embed widget" button above. Then click OTHER HTML and
paste your code in the box.

Save the little box. Save your page. Watch your video!
